Our chapter embarks on this project on an annual basis to alleviate the hardship of pupils in public primary schools in the 5 local government areas of Oron Nation. As of September 2024, the annual backpack projects have benefited 1,750 pupils in 21 primary schools.
Please consider partnering with us in this important cause by making a donation. 100% of funds are used to purchase backpacks and school supplies for these young and eager students.

Welcome Message from the ODU USA, Inc. Dallas Chapter President:
Dr. Efiong Ndekhedehe
Dear Visitors, Members, and Friends,
Welcome to the online home of the Oron Development Union USA, Inc. (ODU) Dallas Chapter. We are delighted to introduce this platform as a vital space for connection, culture, and community work. The ODU Dallas Chapter has grown over the years from a small number of families residing in the Dallas Metropolitan Area to more than 38 members spread across the United States, from Texas in the south to Arizona, Oklahoma, Denver, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Virginia, South Carolina, New York, and Florida.
Initially, our charitable work involved awarding scholarships to deserving children of Oron indigenes in secondary schools while also supporting other nonprofit partner organizations in their philanthropic efforts. With the establishment of free tuition by the Akwa Ibom State Government, our signature project has shifted focus to providing backpacks filled with school supplies. This project, implemented annually, aims to alleviate the hardships faced by pupils in public primary schools across the five local government areas of Oron Nation. So far, 1750 pupils in 21 primary schools have benefited from the initiative.
This website serves as a reflection of our shared values and collective vision. Here, you’ll find updates on our programs and events, community initiatives, cultural insights, and ways to engage with and support our work. Whether you’re a member of the Oron community, a supporter, or a curious visitor, we hope this platform provides meaningful information and inspiration. It is my honor and privilege to welcome you to our website, where we showcase our accomplishments over the years and our plans for the future. Please explore, connect, and share. We are excited to have you with us on this journey. In the words of Helen Keller “Together, we build. Together, we rise.”
With warm regards.
